No way that I am aware.......but when you're fitting up the PS2, try not putting in the cover screws (the 6-8 screws @ the underside). It could be that after fitting it up the cover is on too tight. If it still doesn't work after not inserting the screws, then your assumption may be right. To test t...

jhawkeye - thanx 4 the help with this. How did it turn out? And also, does the memory card work in slot 1? If you turn on the ANALOG feature on P1 controller, does it come on? If so, then maybe it just needs cleaning or the cable to be re-seated. Let us know how things feared.

You can get a new lens at some online stores. You can try DAVID's blog to find his tweaking/adjusting your lens section. You can also search it out online. If tweaking doesn't work, you'll need the new lens. Search it out and choose the store you prefer. Hope the info helps.

You sound like you have a lens problem. Meaning either the laser lens, or the spindle top. A new PS2 would do the trick, or if you know someone that is tech savvy, and willing to do the fix for you. Try tweaking the lens first, and checking for the spindle top being bad. Then changing the lens if al...

Good thing you got a new one. You'd probably have to get a new lens for the old one. That's all it needs anyways, a new lens IMO. If you can't play DVD MOVIES or the SILVER games (DVD games) then it's a lens problem. Maybe if the lens was adjusted/tweaked it would work, but I doubt U need to do that...

The little board with the reset/eject buttons could be bad. If you can get another one to test it with, that would be nice. Just remember to ensure that it's turned off and preferrably plugged out before you do any work on it. Hope the NFO helps.

Try an AUDIO CD and a DVD MOVIE in there. Depending on which of those play, or not play, we will know where the problem lies. Specifically, the problem seems to be with your lens, and you may need to get a new one. If you can play AUDIO CD's then you should be able to play CD based games (PS1 and BL...

If you could get a reaaaly thin bird-beak plier, or some good tweezers, you should be ok. As long as you know what goes where, all is good. If the ribbon-cables giving you trouble are the ones going to the right side of the PS2 (opposite side from the power supply) then you need to ensure that all e...

Check to ensure that you've reconnected the power supply properly, and that the ribbon-cable going from the board to the power/reset/eject board is connected properly. You may have connected it upside-down on one end. Just double check again. Hope it helps.

The white/silver disks are DVD disks. You're either going to have to adjust the laser lens, or get a new lens. Hopefully and adjust will help you. David has a blog with the details. Hope the info helps.

If you can find the "little brown thingy", just put it back. Same thing happened to me once, and I found it. All I did was push it back into place after inserting the cable from the board, and it worked fine. If you can't find it, then you'll have to order one, sorry. Hope the info helps. ...

Probably. And I've heard about and seen the tape method in action, but it's just for games that are skipping or skidding when inserted into the console. Your problem is lens related, and you're going to need a new lens. The lens in the earlier model PS2's have known issues. Some end up reading CD on...

The slim is nice. The lens reads so much better than the older models, but it's a pain to chip. Anyways, there should be some info online on how to open it up. I can't remember offhand. If you find something, and go inside, hopefully it's a loose wire or the button got broke (the plastic that is ove...

There are sites that deal with how to open your PS2. Your problem with the scratches could be a lens problem, as well as it could be the spindle cover magnet not working properly (poor magnetism) and therefore not holding the disk down properly during reading/spinning. If you still can't find any in...

The little magnet holds the disk in place. Here's a trick. If you've removed the little "white plastic" spindle cover, and being careful not to break/bend it, you can place a disk into the tray/drive and put the spindle on the top of the disk (on the spindle) and it should snap down. The m...
