After removing the top and bottom of the console, look to the FRONT and BACK of the LASER/DISK ASSEMBLY and you'll see ONE large clip/tab at the front and TWO smaller ones at the back. Basically the lens assembly snaps plastic clips/tabs into the metal frame of the PS2. Just be careful and snap thos...

Hopefully something on the board isn't blown. Try re-seating the cables. Try it without tightening the screws (or putting in any) to see if something is being pinched. Try changing the buttons (the little board with the power/reset/eject). Hopefully one of those will work.

The disk maybe damaged. The lens of your PS2 may be damaged. If you can play other games then it's just the disk damaged. This is why I've chipped my PS2 and my PS1 and have NEVER played my originals. The only place my originals go is into my computer to be burnt. I'd hate it if anything happened to...

3 days eh? Well I usually play for longer...........anyways. Power on the PS2 with no disks in there. Go into the BROWSER. Place a disk in the drive and check to see if it tries to read. Assuming that you've been inside your PS2 before. Open the lens assembly / disk tray. With the PS2 off, manually ...

Hopefully it's just a fuse that may be in the power supply. Or at the worst, maybe it's the power supply. Have someome with a multimeter check it and see if power is going to the power supply, as well as check if anything on the power supply may be blown. Hope the NFO helps.

Games do have PAL/NTSC formatting. Have you tried any other US games in the console? And you said that movies play ok? Try a PAL movie in there and see if you get the same thing. Same thing happened to me when I tried to play the UK version of APE ESCAPE in my PS1. Hope the NFO helps.

There are multiple ways that piece can fit back into the controller. Basically, it's just there for balancing purposes. My digital camera is whacked, but I'll try and find some pics for you or borrow a camera and try to get some pics. It will "fall into place" meaning, it will fit and all ...

The purple/blue disks are CD based games, and the silver ones are DVD based games. Usually that's the case. What you have my friend is the bitter end of the stick. Most PS2 games (esp. the new ones) are DVD games. Your lens is at fault. You could try tweaking the lens and hopefully that will help. I...

Is the "hissing sound" the sound of the disk spinning up? Or the sound of the spindle spinning? Or is it more of an electrical sound? The "no solder" chip has a temperature protection that will not turn on the PS2 unless the temp is ok. The fan going bad could be the problem (as ...

If you go into the BROWSER and put in a disk, does it say "READING" or does it do nothing? Does it do anything at all that you can see in the BRWOSER? Can you access your MEMORY CARD or use your CONTROLLER? If you can use the PS2 all the same, but you can't read any disk at all (movies or ...

Well, sounds like a board problem maybe.....I don't recall seeing a battery on my PS2 board, but I'll look again. If there is a battery, maybe it's dead and needs changing. That would be the solution for your having to reset the system settings each time. The "violent tray" is another thin...

Maybe the board got damaged. Is the console chipped? (Mod Chip?) You've tried another AV cable you said........when the cable is plugged in, try jiggling the wires/connector where it plugs into the PS2 and check what happens. Maybe the connector at the PS2 end is damaged. If it is, and you can see w...

If you've been inside the PS2 before, here's something you could try. Remove the cover for the laser assembly / disk tray. Manually (while the console is off) move the lens to the back of the console. Power on and check if the lens moves to the front (home towards the spindle). If it does, and you g...

Try removing the cover and check if the tray will eject. You may not even have to do that. Just remove all the cover screws (6 screws in some models, 8 in others) and try the eject button again. Sometimes the cover is too tight on the console, and ends up pinching or hitching the eject tray. Post yo...
