(Correct me on the info provided if I'm wrong) I would recommend to anyone that has a PS2 to do the ROMEO MOD whether or not you have a mod-chip installed. This will save on the lens. Basically, the lens uses up to a 12V power line and this voltage may spike when reading disks that are badly scratch...

David's taking a little long to respond, gonna up the pics to somewhere and then link the urls to them. Also gonna get back a digital camera (a friend messed up mine) and post some decent pics on what to do and how to do it. The images posted are raw images, unedited and will be cleaned up and done ...

So very sorry for the looong no reply. I didn't check back the forum in a while because of no internet - lightning knocked out my DSL modem. That and work stopped me for a bit. Good to see you're back in business. If you have a digital camera could you post some pics of where you did your work on th...

I like what you've done so far. Obviously you have a lot of experience in the electrionics department - I passed electronics but I didn't really like it.......anyways. I have never seen that kind of problem with a PS2, but I have seen it on the PS1. With the PS1 it usually is a lens adjustment probl...

@ CHAZZA - The lens either needs cleaning or to be changed. If you're reading one type of disk and not the other it usually means that - lens going or tweaking needed. If you've tweaked before, do so again, if never there are some instructions in another post, along with links. Will re-post with lin...

It could be either the ribbon cable going to the eject/power board (the little one). If one of the wires on the ribbon cable is burnt you wont know. If the board is bad it's hard to tell. Basically, you'd have to hook it up to another PS2 of similar model, or one that uses a similar board to check i...

The slimline would be the Version 12 and up. You can find the PDF manuals for those at mod-chip (link is above). Hope they help. Sorry, I've never disassembled a slim, since there is no solderless chip available for the slim I didn't opt to get one. Post your findings and results if the sites I gave...

This depends on your PS2 model. If it's the slimline, then I have no idea how to tell you to get in and out of it. Here are a few places to go to: http://www.modchipstore.com/customer/pages.php?pageid=37 http://www.mod-chip.com/en/installation_ps2.htm At MOD-CHIP you can download a PDF for your spec...

The place that I've known for years as the first, and best, when it comes to chips and parts - http://www.mod-chip.com/ For your PS2 parts click on this link. I still think you should go to the main site and look around, you may be able to find some other stuff you may like. Hope the info helps. PeA...

Ouch........sorry, it looks like the board was damaged somehow.......Do you have a mod-chip installed? If you do, remove the chip and try again. Maybe there was a badly connected solder point and it's shorting something out. If you want to try this as well, it's an option - disassemble the PS2 and c...

Does the fan spin when you turn it on? If it doesn't maybe the power supply is the problem. It could be a fuse or a capacitor in the power supply gone bad. If the fan comes on, it means that there is power going to the board, but not getting to the other components. This could be due to bad ribbon c...
