When I turn the PS2 on, the red light comes on, but when I hit the reset button or eject, it turns from red to green for a few seconds and turns back to red. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Sounds like a component failure that is discovered during the PS2 start-up diagnostics.

Could also be that the buttons are bad maybe? If you have another PS2 of the same model, you could try swapping the buttons/cable and see what happens.
