OK first of all I would like to say THANK YOU to David for this has helped me a little. My problem is with that little silver strip that makes everyone go mad. I just read everything about it here tonight so I have one thing to try which is see if it is connected to the bottom. IF it that is not the case then I fear that the cable has been damaged badly and does not work. It isn't torn or ripped just bent out of shape badly. Is there any way to make a makeshift cable or anything to repair the cable?

OK I got my PS2 to work for the first time in sooo long!!! The cable was disonnected so I put it in. At first it didn't work but I smoothed out the cable and then it worked!! I think the red LED light doesn't work anymore because when I pressed the reset button no lights were on then it came to life and I was like OH YEAH! Anyways thanks again.
